UE5 Demo - Echo's Locomotion
As a part of Epic's Special Projects team I had the privilege of getting to do a little AnimBP work on Echo's locomotion. Was pretty happy with what got done in such a short timeframe. Was also great to experiment with rotational start animations without root motion. Her movement is still 100% driven by the movement component, and rotation is handled in the AnimBP after the graph evaluates. This way anim curves can be used to inform the rotation behavior and better match animation
Not really an "official method" (what is lol), just trying to push the existing tools as far as they go until the newer and better stuff is ready :)

Problem: I want to be able to easily create multiple stances that can have arbitrary feet positions. I also don't want to create a whole bunch of custom animations for each stance. Howdy! Sorry to add a ping to something so old. I am trying to recreate this, and am not entirely sure how you are getting these points. Is there any chance you would be able to do a basic rundown of how you were achieving this? I get the idea - sphere trace some distance ahead of you, going down and seeing if you hit something. If you do, do the traces around that capsule to look for edge points. Then once you have those points, do some checks to see if they're valid, etc. I'm just having some trouble recreating it exactly for some reason. Anyway, I was wondering if there is any chance of getting a semi in-depth understanding, or if you had any resources to point to for achieving this.

I tried to play a simple montage but I get mad after few days and gave up my project. I didn't know where to put my nodes among the 10 000 layers/states/group/sections/post process/curves evaluations/slots/transitions... But at least the character can move, I just hoped to add more movement to my game. I guess I'll have to start another project, without animation bps this time

im wordering what this guy do these days ...nothing on his channel for more than 2 years now ....im using ALSv4 for about 1year ...great achievment thank you Longmire for all the work you put in this ALS project ,realy great stuff !
That is because ALS is getting old i think, found that:
ALS Response: Advanced Locomotion system is built upon pretty outdated animation programming techniques of pre Unreal Engine 5 era, and I highly recommended to utilize other available locomotion systems, such as Epic's Lyra sample project. This repository will only receive engine compatibility fixes from now.
@@streetfalkos nahh, i like the ALS better than lyra ....ofcource lyra i best for multiplayer shooters and tps games ....im using als for adventures, hack and slash types having already climbing and all that)
@@streetfalkos doesnt matter how old it is i still like it ...(UE4 is old as fk but people still using it because of the low resoources needed to run it so many people preffer that instead the fancy UE5)
